Harvest Party

Today we learned about the First Thanksgiving. Our class created a trail mix that contained  ingredients that represented different parts of the First Thanksgiving. Ask your child to retell you the First Thanksgiving feast! Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving was our favorite book for this season!
Students created turkeys and wrote a plea to save them from being eaten on Thanksgiving.

Character Day!

Character Day is a White Station Elementary favorite! We celebrate and promote literacy by creating a fun filled day that allows students to bring their favorite characters to life! Students across all grade levels participate in a Character Day parade around the grounds of our school campus. Special thanks to all of the parents for taking time to create character costumes. This day would not be successful without all of your effort!

Pumpkin Adjectives!

Our class has been busy studying adjectives this week!  Today, we reviewed writing adjectives to describe nouns. Each team received a pumpkin and had to investigate the pumpkin to generate as many adjectives as they could to describe it!

We have been working hard all week learning about characteristics of non-living and living things. Yesterday, students tested their knowledge while searching the school campus for non-living and living things to record for their scavenger hunt.

Welcome to First Grade!

Hello Students and Parents,

It is hard to believe a new school year is here! I am excited to be working with you and your child this school year in the first grade. If I have not met you personally, I welcome you to call the school (901-416-8900) and set up a time for us to meet! Strong communication between teachers and parents is vital for student success. I am looking forward to a wonderful year together!

I can't wait to meet my new first graders on Monday, August 8, 2016!
